Lachen and Gurundogmar Lake

Located at 9000 feet and 126 km from Gangtok, Lachen is a picturesque Lepcha village. It serves as a gateway to Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. Lachen also has a monastery on a hill.

Chopta Valley, above 13000 feet and about 30 km from Lachen, is covered in snow in winters but transforms into a colourful landscape come spring and summer. Gurudongmar Lake, breathtakingly high and beautiful at 18000 feet is another 30 km and an important pilgrimage for the Sikhs.
