Buxa
Buxa Tiger Reserve, near the India-Bhutan border and contiguous with Manas National Park in Assam, is a place for hardcore wildlife. It is home to elephants, bison, sambar, barking, hog and chital deer, wild boars, wild buffalos, leopards and arguably, Tigers as well, though no sighting has been reported by the villagers in the recent past.
Go for the open jeep safaris organised by the Forest Department, which go to a watchtower 12 km inside the park. The best thing about Buxa is the treks that take you through the forest to hilltops, fort ruins, rivers and caves: Buxa Fort (18 km), Jayanti Caves (14 km) and Chhota Sinchula Peak (12 km).
Phuentsholing, a small border town in Bhutan, is the gateway to the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan. Indian tourists can cross over to Phuentsholing from Jaigaon. The town is about 45 minutes drive from Buxa Tiger Reserve.
Buxa is one of the largest forests in North Bengal and there are many places within the forest where you may visit and Stay. The popular tourist places in Buxa include Rajabhatkhawa, Jayanti, Santalabari, Raimatang, Buxa fort and others.
The best place to stay at Buxa is at Humro Home Buxa. This is a homestay managed by Lalsing Bhujel of Rajabhatkhawa village. The Humro Home Buxa is closely associated with us and can be booked through us as well.
