About 10,000 orchid plants belonging to various genera and species are cultivated in four distinct species houses that also ensure ex-situ conservation.

The place is dedicated to a war hero, Jaswant Singh Rawat(Mahavir Chakra Awardee) who sacrificed his life for India, This memorial is garland in honor of late Jaswant Singh Rawat. He was an Indian rifleman of 4 Garhwal Rifles, Uttarakhand, and for his bravery who got martyred in 1962 Indo-China war. Jaswant showed his valor by fighting and holding the invading Chinese back for 72 hours all alone during the 1962 India-China war and remained at his post at an altitude of about 10,000 feet.

The Sela Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass located on the border between the Tawang and West Kameng Districts of Arunachal Pradesh state in India.
